The Andromeda Galaxy is referred to by its catalog number M31 or NGC224, but faint galaxies without catalog numbers are often referred to as "anonymous galaxies" by prefixing them with the letters A or An and adding their right ascension and declination coordinates, such as A16 38-30 58.
[Classification]
The classification of galaxies is based on the morphological classification proposed by Hubble in 1926, but there are also classifications such as the Yerkes classification, which is based on the central concentration of galaxy brightness.
