<br /> A temple located in Tada-in, Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture. Founded in 970 (Tenroku 1) by Minamoto no Mitsunaka , the temple boasted a splendid appearance with a main hall, stupa, academic hall, Hokke-do, Jōgyō-do and Mie-do hall within its grounds, and the Sosha Rokusha Gonzuri was enshrined there, but it fell into decline in the late Middle Ages. In the Edo period, the shogunate built a new main hall, worship hall and Shaka-do hall, and gave the temple the title of Tada Gongen, giving it a stronger character as a shrine, and after the Meiji Restoration, it was renamed Tada Shrine. The shrine grounds remain in their original location, and within the grounds, which are surrounded by stone walls and moats on all four sides, the graves of Minamoto no Mitsunaka and Yorimitsu, as well as the grave of a portion of Ashikaga Takauji's bones, remain. As the tomb of Minamoto no Mitsunaka, it was revered by the Kamakura, Muromachi and Edo Shogunates, and was designated a national historic site in 1951 (Showa 26) due to its historical importance. The main hall, worship hall and Zuishinmon gate are designated as important cultural properties, and the temple grounds include a treasure hall that displays treasures related to the Genji clan. It is about a 15-minute walk from Tada Station on the Nose Electric Railway's Myoken Line. Source: Kodansha National Historic Site Guide Information |
