Oiroto - Oiroto

Japanese: オイロート - おいろーと
Oiroto - Oiroto

...The northern group was formerly called the Forest Tatars. The southern group was under the rule of the Mongolian Oirats (Oirod in Mongolian and Altaic) and Kalmyks, and was therefore also called Kalmyks or Oirods. From 1922 to 1948, the administrative district was called Oirod Autonomous Oblast, but since 1948 it has been called the Gorno-Altai Autonomous Oblast (since the early 1990s it has been the Altai Republic. In 1989 it had a population of 192,000 and its capital was Gorno-Altaysk).
