Aiguille du diable (English spelling)

…Children are not likely to become fascinated with dragonfly catching. Dragonflies are often considered to be ominous and creepy insects, and are also called darning needle, devil's darning needle, Teufelsnadel, aiguille du diable, and witch's needle. This comes from the superstition that dragonflies use their long tails as needles to sew up people's ears, or sew up children's lips if they lie or say something wrong.
