Addu

…In documents, the name is written IM regardless of pronunciation, but the standard Akkadian name is Adad, although among the Amorites (Amorites) they also called him Addu. Since this name appears in the theologians as early as the Pharatic period (mid-3rd millennium BCE), the god must have been known in southern Mesopotamia from a fairly early period, but his cult was particularly widespread in northern Mesopotamia from the Akkadian period (c. 2334-2154 BCE) onwards.
