Another name for the Japan War Dead Students Memorial Association. A peace movement group formed in 1950 by cultural figures, bereaved families, and students following the publication of the memoir of students who died in World War II, Listen to the Voices of the Sea (1949). Gradually it became a student-centered organization. Disbanded in 1958. Re-established in 1959 with the purpose of promoting "exchange and solidarity between generations who experienced war and those who did not."
