This manor in Suzu County, Noto Province, is identified with the area including the western part of Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Uchiura Town (currently Noto Town), and the eastern part of Noto Town (currently Noto Town). In 1143, Minamoto no Suekane donated the manor, which he inherited from his father Toshikane, to Empress Dowager Fujiwara no Seishi (later Kokamon'in). At the beginning of the Kamakura period, the manor area was 500 cho (based on the number of fields in Noto Province), covering most of the county, and consisted of four districts, Wakayama, Iida, Tada, and Mokuro, and Saikaiura. The head family position was passed down from Kokamon'in to the Kujo family, and the lord position was passed down from Suekane to his son Suenaga and then to the Hino family, and in 1348 there was a dispute between Kujo Tsuneyoshi and Hino Tokimitsu over the lord position. The Hino family appointed local samurai such as the Honjo and Matsunami families as manor officials, but from 1428 to the following year they served as shugouke. In Naogo within the manor, there are numerous remains of kilns for Suzu ware, which was fired from the Heian to Sengoku periods. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
