The remains of a capital city (mainly from the 6th to 8th centuries) in the desert about 40 km west of the city of Bukhara, Uzbekistan. In the 10th century historian Narshahi's "History of Bukhara," it is mentioned as Farakhsha as the residence of the Bukharan ruler Bukhār Khudāh. Excavations by a Soviet archaeological survey team uncovered murals in each room of the palace depicting the king and his attendants, hunting scenes, and battles between humans and monsters.
