Robertiens

A family connected to the Capetian dynasty of France. In 861, Robert was appointed Margrave of Brittany by Charles II and put in charge of defense against invaders such as Bretons (British people) and Normans (Vikings). He was killed in battle at Brissart in 866, leaving behind two sons, Eudes and Robert I. Count Eude, who made a name for himself by defending Paris from Norman attacks in 885-886, was promoted by powerful princes to become king after the dethronement of Charles III in 887, which effectively ended the Carolingian system.
