A former town in Kashima County, central Ishikawa Prefecture. It occupies the central part of the Ochigata lowlands and the northern hills, and is primarily agricultural. Notobe, located in the center and on the Nanao Line, has long been known for producing Noto Jofu, a high-quality hand-woven linen fabric, and has a thriving synthetic textile industry. In March 2005, it merged with Toriya Town and Kashima Town in Kashima County to become a town, Nakanoto Town. 14.78 km2 . 5,279 people (2003). 石川県中部，鹿島郡の旧町。邑知(おうち)潟低地帯中央部と北の丘陵を占め，農業が主。七尾線が通じる中心の能登部(のとべ)は高級な手織麻織物の能登上布の産で古くから知られ，合繊織物工業が盛ん。2005年３月鹿島郡鳥屋町，鹿島町と合併し町制，中能登町となる。14.78km2。5279人（2003）。
