A monk named Kanren was also known as a strong player, and is said to have submitted a book on go rules in 913 (Engi 13). The original book no longer exists, but according to Genson's Go Rules (1199), which was based on the original, it was a book that covered everything related to go, including etiquette, tactics, and equipment. ...
