...The works of Okoto, who unearthed the traditional culture of the Acholi people and used it to ridicule the exhaustion of modern Western Europe, Achebe, who skillfully wove in Igbo folklore, Soyinka, who revived the rich mythological world of the Yoruba people in the modern era, and Ngugi, who reads anti-colonial spirit into the myths and folk songs of the Kikuyu people, are nothing but efforts to wash away the stigma of African culture and redefine ethnic traditions. The interest in film, theater, and ethnic languages of Swahili writers such as Sambène, Ngugi, Soyinka, Ama, Kole Omotoso (1943-), and Ebrahim Hussein, also has the intention of overcoming the thinness of African readership by shifting the media. In the case of Ngugi, who turned to being an ethnic language writer after being detained and devoted himself to the peasant and worker theater movement, he not only changed the arena of anti-establishment struggle and gained new readers, but also opened the way for popular participation in literary creation and tried to graft this onto the ethnic traditions of the Kikuyu people. *Some of the terminology that mentions "Omotoso, K." is listed below. … … ※「Omotoso,K.」
