A type of polyacrylonitrile staple. A trademark of Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd., this acrylic fiber was industrialized in 1957 by the company after introducing the technology of Chemstrand Co., Ltd.'s acrylic fiber Acrilan (trademark). A polymer made by copolymerizing 85-90% acrylonitrile with 10-15% vinylpyridine and other components is dissolved in dimethylacetamide and wet-spun to produce it.
