Circular pendulum

...This is called a horizontal pendulum and is used in seismometers, etc. A pendulum that moves a weight suspended from a string in a circular motion on a horizontal plane is called a conical pendulum, while a pendulum that moves a weight suspended from a string on a sphere whose radius is the length of the string is called a circular pendulum. If a pendulum with a weight attached to the end of a rod is upside down, it is unstable, but if the fulcrum is oscillated up and down, the weight will maintain its upside-down position while oscillating with a small amplitude.
