1645‐1715 French pharmacist and chemist. Born in Rouen to a Protestant family, he began his apprenticeship as a pharmacist at his uncle's house. After six years of wandering and training, he went to Paris in 1672 to open a pharmacy and become successful in selling patent medicines. His private chemistry lectures became so popular that they were published in 1675 as Lectures on Chemistry, which went through many editions. These are thought to have been influenced by the ideas of R. Descartes, which were at the height of their popularity at the time, and explain the properties of chemical substances through mechanics (the shape and motion of particles). 1645‐1715 フランスの薬学・化学者。
