Leo [IX] - Leo
Pope of the Roman Empire (reigned 1049-1054). He ascended to the throne with the support of Holy Roman Emperor Henry III, and with the help of Hildebrand (later Pope Gregory VII) and other talented individuals, he worked hard to reform the church. He is also known for the condemnation of Berengar of Tours and the break with the Eastern Church (1054).
