Kakushinni - Secretly

Japanese:
Kakushinni - Secretly

A nun of the Jodo Shinshu sect in the Kamakura period. She was the youngest daughter of Shinran. Her mother was Eshin-ni. A surviving letter addressed to Kakushin-ni states that she was the Ogozen. She served as a lady-in-waiting to Koga Michimitsu (1187-1248) and was called Hyoe no Kami no Tsubone. She became a concubine to Hino Hirotsuna and gave birth to Kakue (1239-1307). After Hirotsuna's death, she remarried Ononomiya Zennen and gave birth to Yuizen (1266-1317). After Shinran's death, a temple was built on land owned by Zennen by a disciple living in the Kanto region, but the land was later inherited by Kakushin-ni. After Zennen's death, Kakushinni donated it to the shrine and decreed that her descendants would manage the shrine instead of her disciples. This position was called the Rusushiki position, and after Kakushinni's death, a dispute arose between Kakue and Kakunyo, father and son, and Yuizen (the Yuizen Incident) over this position.
