1625‐62 One of the surviving kings of the Southern Ming Dynasty in China. Reigned 1647-62. Also known as King Gui and Emperor Yongli. His given name was Zhu Youlang. He was the grandson of Emperor Shenzong, and his father was King Gui Zhu Changying. When the peasant rebel Zhang Xianzhong attacked Hengzhou (Hunan Province), he fled to Guangxi, and succeeded him as King Gui after his father's death. Later, when the Tang king was captured by the Qing army in Fuzhou (Fujian Province), he was supported in Zhaoqing (Guangdong Province) by Ding Kuichu and Qushiqi (1590-1650), and established the Yongli and Yuan Dynasties. The brave fighting of Qushiqi and Li Dingguo temporarily restored the strength of the anti-Qing movement, but he eventually fled to Burma (present-day Myanmar), where he was captured by the Burmese and handed over to the Qing army led by Wu Sangui, where he was killed.
