Ayanan [town] - Ryonan

Japanese: 綾南[町] - りょうなん

A former town in Ayauta County in central Kagawa Prefecture. It occupies the middle reaches of the Aya River. The main settlement has long been a key location on the Kotohira Highway, and the Kotohira Line of the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railway runs through it, so many people commute to Takamatsu City. In the surrounding rural areas, rice and wheat are cultivated using reservoir irrigation, and fruit trees, chickens, and dairy cows are cultivated. The town is known for its Fuyu persimmons. In March 2006, it was incorporated as a town by merging with Ayagami Town in Ayauta County, becoming Ayakawa Town in Ayauta County. Area: 38.47 ^km2 . Population: 19,616 (2003).

香川県中部，綾歌(あやうた)郡の旧町。綾川の中流域を占める。主集落は古くから琴平街道の要地として発達，高松琴平電鉄琴平線が通じ，高松市への通勤者も多い。周辺農村部では溜池灌漑(ためいけかんがい)による米麦作のほか果樹栽培，養鶏，乳牛飼育が行われる。富有柿を特産。2006年３月，綾歌郡綾上町が合併し町制，綾歌郡綾川町となる。38.47km²。１万9616人（2003）。
