The Rebellion of Liu Liu and Liu Qi

Japanese: 劉六･劉七の乱 - りゅうろくりゅうしちのらん

During the Ming Dynasty in China, a popular rebellion broke out in Ba County, Hebei Province, for about two years from 1510 (the 5th year of Zhengde), and spread to seven provinces: Shandong, Henan, Shanxi, Hubei, Anhui, and Jiangsu. Liu Liu and Liu Qi were brothers who were the ringleaders of this rebellion. At the time, as the monetary economy and large landowners took hold, class disintegration was progressing, but peasants could not tolerate the abnormal oppression of the eunuchs in particular, and peasant rebellions broke out all over the country. Liu Liu and his brothers were skilled archers and initially served as police officers, but eventually became flag-bearers for the rebellion, coining the slogan "Rebuild the country and help the wise," and rallying together intellectuals to stage an uprising to reform the world.

中国の明代，1510年(正徳5)から約2年間，河北省覇県に発生し，山東，河南，山西，湖北，安徽，江蘇の7省にわたって展開された民衆反乱で，劉六と劉七はその首謀者の兄弟である。当時，貨幣経済と大土地所有の浸透する中で階層分解が進んだが，ことに宦官（かんがん）の異常な圧政に耐えきれず，全国各地に農民反乱が勃発した。劉六らは弓矢の名手で最初捕盗役人だったが，やがて反乱の旗手となり，建国扶賢(国を建て直し賢者を助ける)というスローガンを作り，生員(インテリ)らを糾合して世直し一揆を行った。
