A sports shoe manufacturer and brand. It began in 1895 in Bolton, England, when local runner Joseph William Foster hammered studs into his own running shoes to create the world's first athletics spikes. At the 1924 Paris Olympics, the British team won the gold medal with Foster's new spikes, the Foster Pump (the film Chariots of Fire depicts this event). In 1958, the company changed its name to its current one and began making other sports shoes. In 1982, women's aerobics shoes became popular. Currently, the company also produces clothing such as warm-up suits and sweatshirts. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
