Li Dequan

Chinese politician. Born in Hebei Province as the daughter of a pastor. Graduated from Union Women's University. While teaching at a girls' school, she participated in the Beijing YWCA movement. At the age of 29, she married warlord politician Feng Yuxiang. During the Sino-Japanese War, she led the women's movement in Nanjing and Chongqing. In 1949, she participated in the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference as a representative of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee, and became Minister of Health of the People's Republic, and in 1950, she became president of the Red Cross of China. She worked hard to help Japanese people return to Japan, and visited Japan in 1954 and 1957. In 1958, she joined the Chinese Communist Party. In 1965, she became Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

中国の政治家。河北省で牧師の娘として生まれる。協和女子大学卒業。女学校で教鞭(きょうべん)をとりつつ北京(ペキン)YWCAの運動に参加。29歳で軍閥政治家馮玉祥(ふうぎょくしょう)と結婚。日中戦争期には南京(ナンキン)・重慶(じゅうけい)で女性運動を指導した。1949年国民党革命委員会代表として人民政治協商会議に参加、人民共和国の衛生部長、1950年には中国紅十字会会長となる。日本人の帰国などに尽力し、1954年（昭和29）と1957年に来日。1958年中国共産党に入党。1965年中国人民政治協商会議副主席。
