King of England from the House of Plantagenet (reigned 1189-1199). Son of Henry II. He participated in the Third Crusade and fought against Saladin (Salaad al-Din) of Egypt, earning him the nickname of the Lion Hearted. He was captured in Germany on his way back, but returned home after paying a ransom.
