Li Cheng-liang (Li Chengliang)

A military commander in the late Ming Dynasty of China. He was from Tielingwei in Liaodong (Liaoning Province). His courtesy name was Ruqi. He had been a military officer in the Tielingwei in Liaodong for generations. In 1570 (the 4th year of the Longqing era), he became the military officer in charge of Liaodong after the death of the military officer in charge Wang Zhidao. He defended against Mongol invasions, and when the Manchus rose up, he captured the head of the Jianzhou Jurchens, Wang Gao, and then invaded the Haixi Jurchens. He made great contributions to the defense of Manchuria during the Ming Dynasty for over 20 years. However, he also committed many tyrannical acts during that time, and in 1991 (the 19th year of the Wanli era), he was impeached and retired from his post, but was reinstated.

中国，明末の武将。遼東鉄嶺衛 (遼寧省) の人。字は汝契。代々遼東鉄嶺衛の軍官であった。隆慶4 (1570) 年総兵官王治道の戦死のあとをうけて遼東の総兵官となった。モンゴル諸部の侵入を防ぐとともに，満州族が興起したとき，建州女直の部長王杲 (おうこう) を捕え，さらに海西女直を征伐するなど，二十余年にわたって明の満州防衛に大功を立てた。しかしその間専横の行いも多く，万暦 19 (91) 年には弾劾を受け，職を退いたが，復職した。
