Less than 10% of drugs are distributed through the so-called separation of medical and pharmaceutical functions, where prescriptions are issued by hospitals and clinics and then pharmacy (dispensing pharmacy) gives the medical drugs to consumers (patients). The remaining 20% or so of drugs are over-the-counter drugs (OTC drugs). Wholesalers and distributors are also divided into two groups, specializing in medical and over-the-counter drugs.
