Insulinoma

Also known as insulinoma. A tumor that develops in the B cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. Most are single tumors, and most are benign, but in rare cases they can be malignant. The tumor secretes excess insulin, causing Whipple's triad: 1. hypoglycemic attacks during fasting or exercise, 2. blood glucose levels below 50 mg/dl during attacks, and 3. rapid recovery after administration of glucose.
