The name of a Buddhist memorial service. A Mitsukiyodate memorial service centered on the Rishukyo Sutra. It is performed in Shingon sects and is most commonly used along with gomaku (a ritual offering for burning with fire). A large altar or a simplified version of it is set up, and the priest climbs onto the offering board in front of it to perform the Rishuho (Rishukyo Sutra). The attendants chant shomyo and recite the sutra during this time. In formal memorial services, the central Rishukyo sutra is recited using the Middle-Curved Rishukyo Sutra, which has a verse at the beginning of each section, and a magnificent melody can be heard at the end of the verse, "Good, good, good..." 仏事の法要名。《理趣経》を中心とした密教立(みつきようだて)の法要。真言系諸宗で勤め,護摩供(ごまく)とともにもっとも多用される。大壇(だいだん)またはその略式の修法壇を設け,その前の礼盤(らいはん)に導師が登って〈理趣法(理趣経法)〉の修法をする。職衆(しきしゆう)はその間に声明(しようみよう)を唱え,読経を行う。晴れの法要では,中心となる《理趣経》の読経は,各段の初めにフシの付く《中曲理趣経》を用い,その最末部の〈善哉善哉(せんざいせんざい)……〉のくだりで華麗な曲節が聞かれる。
