Army Commissioner - Rikugunbugyo

This was a position established during the Edo Shogunate's military reforms at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate period. In the military reform proposal of 1862 (Bunkyu 2), it was placed in sixth place after the Navy Magistrate. It was established on December 1st of the same year, and Ozeki Masuhiro (1837-66, Lord of Shimotsuke Kurobane Domain), the Magistrate of the Military Education and Training Center, was appointed to the position. The Army Magistrate had a stipend of 5,000 koku, and was ranked above the Sunpu Castle lord in charge of the three branches of the military: infantry, cavalry, and artillery. Initially there was only one person, but later two or three were appointed at the same time. Following Ozeki, Doi Toshiyoshi (Lord of the Mikawa Kariya Domain), Takenaka Shigekata, Jinbo Sotoku, Matsudaira (Ogyu) Noritaka (Lord of the Shinano Tanokuchi Domain), Mizoguchi Katsuyuki, Inaba Masami (Lord of the Awa Tateyama Domain), Ishikawa Sokan (Lord of the Hitachi Shimodate Domain), Asano Ujisuke, and Takenaka Shigekata (reappointed) were appointed. Takenaka, who had been reappointed, resigned on February 9, 1868 (Keio 4).

幕末期、江戸幕府の軍制改革で設置された職名。1862年（文久2）の軍制改革案では海軍奉行に次ぐ第六位に置かれていた。同年12月1日設置、講武所奉行大関増裕(おおぜきますひろ)（1837―66。下野黒羽(しもつけくろばね)藩主）が任命された。陸軍奉行は高5000石とし、駿府(すんぷ)城代の上に列して歩・騎・砲の三兵を統轄した。初め1名であったが、ついで2名ないし3名が同時に任じられた。大関に次いで、土井利善(としよし)（三河刈谷(かりや)藩主）、竹中重固(しげかた)、神保(じんぼう)相徳、松平（大給(おぎゅう)）乗謨(のりたか)（信濃田野口(しなのたのくち)藩主）、溝口勝如(かつゆき)、稲葉正巳(まさみ)（安房館山(あわたてやま)藩主）、石川総管(ふさかね)（常陸下館(ひたちしもだて)藩主）、浅野氏祐(うじすけ)、竹中重固（再任）が任命されている。再任の竹中の辞任は68年（慶応4）2月9日。
