Dynamic psychiatry

Japanese: 力動精神医学 - りきどうせいしんいがく（英語表記）dynamic psychiatry

Psychiatry based on a methodology that seeks to understand human existence within the mutual causal relationships between biological, psychological, and social forces. It regards psychodynamics as a key concept and takes a stance against descriptive psychiatry, but does not reject descriptive psychiatry. A. Meyer, considered one of the founders of dynamic psychiatry, attempted to integrate the organic dynamics theory of H. Jackson of England, the descriptive psychiatry of E. Kraepelin of Germany, and the pragmatism of American philosopher J. Dewey. Around that time (1909), S. Freud traveled to America and gained many supporters, so there was a strong tendency to refer to psychoanalytic psychiatry as dynamic psychiatry. However, originally, the term referred to the multifaceted and integrated methodology of American psychiatry in the early 20th century.

人間の存在を生物・心理・社会的な力の相互的因果関係のなかでとらえようとする方法論による精神医学。精神力学を鍵概念とし，記述精神医学に対する立場であるが，記述精神医学を否定するものではない。力動精神医学の開祖の一人とされる A.マイヤーは，イギリスの H.ジャクソンの器質力動論，ドイツの E.クレペリンの記述精神医学，アメリカの哲学者 J.デューイのプラグマティズムを統合しようと試みた。ちょうどその頃 (1909) ，S.フロイトがアメリカを旅行し，多くの支持者を得たので，精神分析的精神医学のことを力動精神医学と呼ぶ傾向が強くなった。しかし元来は，20世紀初期のアメリカ精神医学の多面的かつ統合的な方法論をさす。
