An island located in the northeast of the Yokatsu Peninsula on the east coast of central Okinawa Island, Okinawa Prefecture. It belongs to Uruma City. It used to be an island of agriculture and fishing, but an oil storage facility was built on it, and an undersea road was built between it and Okinawa Island. It is also connected to Miyagi Island and Ikei Island by road. Area: 5.32 km2 (including reclaimed land). Population: 1,391 (2005). 沖縄県,沖縄島中部東海岸,与勝半島北東に浮かぶ島。うるま市に属する。半農半漁の島であったが,石油貯蔵基地がつくられ,沖縄島との間に海中道路が通じるようになった。さらに宮城島,伊計島とも道路で結ばれている。面積 5.32km2(埋立地を含む)。人口 1391(2005)。
