A town in Isoya County, Hokkaido. The Hakodate Main Line runs through the town. The northern part of the town is bordered by the Niseko volcano group and Mount Raiden, and is part of the Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Coast Quasi-National Park. There are hot springs such as Konbu, Yumoto, and Niimi, as well as many ski resorts. The Shiribetsu River runs through the town from east to west, and the town produces rice and other crops.
