Utano - Utano

The area includes Fukuoji Temple and Narutaki, west of Narabigaoka, in Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City. The area is served by the Kitano Line of the Keifuku Electric Railway. The Nihon Koki records Utano as "designated as a mountain tomb," and the tombs of three emperors, Koko, Murakami, and Enyu, from the 9th and 10th centuries are located here. The area was also known as Kinya, and was used as a hunting ground for the emperor's falconry. Myokoji Temple, built by renovating the mountain villa of Kazan-in Fujiwara no Morotsugu, became the family temple of the Kazan-in family and has deep ties to the Southern Court.

京都市右京区、双ヶ丘(ならびがおか)西方の福王寺、鳴滝(なるたき)を含む一帯の地。京福電鉄北野線が通じる。『日本後紀』には宇太野と記され、「山陵の地と定む」とあり、9～10世紀の光孝(こうこう)、村上(むらかみ)、円融(えんゆう)の3天皇の陵墓がある。また禁野(きんや)として、天皇の鷹狩(たかがり)の猟場とされていた。花山院(かざんいん)藤原師継(もろつぐ)の山荘を改築して建立された妙光寺(みょうこうじ)は、花山院家の菩提寺(ぼだいじ)となり、南朝との関係が深い。
