Freedom School - Jiyu Gakuen

Private school. It originated as a miscellaneous school established in 1921 (Taisho 10) by Yoshiichi and Motoko Hani for girls who had finished elementary school, without following the then Girls' High School Act. It consists of an elementary school (elementary school), a middle school (junior high school), and a high school (high school). In 1949 (Showa 24), a faculty for higher education was established, but this faculty is not based on the university defined by the School Education Act, and consists of two-year and four-year courses. It focuses on a consistency of human education based on life over a maximum of 16 years including the undergraduate course. It aims to provide an education that allows students to apply the knowledge they have learned to discover problems and learn comprehensive solutions in a practical manner. It has around 100 students and is characterized by small class sizes. It is located at 1-8-15 Gakuen-cho, Higashikurume-shi, Tokyo.

私立。1921年（大正10）羽仁吉一(はによしいち)・もと子によって、小学校を終えた女子のために、当時の高等女学校令によらないで設置された、各種学校を起源とする。初等部（小学校）、中等科（中学校）、高等科（高等学校）からなり、1949年（昭和24）さらに高等教育にあたる最高学部が設置されたが、この学部は学校教育法に定められた大学によらず、2年課程と4年課程からなる。学部までを含めて最長で16年にわたる、生活を基盤とした人間教育の一貫性を主眼としている。学んだ知識を応用して問題を発見し、総合的な解決方法を実践的に学ぶことができるような教育を目ざしている。学生数は100名内外で、少人数教育を特色とする。所在地は東京都東久留米(ひがしくるめ)市学園町1-8-15。
