Born: March 14, 1793 in Braunschweig German linguist and philologist. He studied in Leipzig and Göttingen, and was a professor at the University of Berlin from 1825. He is known for his work on Old and Middle High German, his analysis of Homer's Iliad, and his compilation of the New Testament.
