Labanotation (English spelling)

A method of notating dance. Invented by Laban. In 1928, Laban published Schrifttanz (Written Dance), which introduced a method of notation that differed from previous methods in two respects. That is, a vertical staff is used, and the movements of the right side of the body are written to the right of the center line, and the movements of the left side are written to the left, and the length of the symbols represents the duration of the movement. Furthermore, instead of simply dividing the body into left and right, each line of the staff represents a part of the body, the height at which the movement occurs is indicated by different colors, and the shape of the symbols indicates the direction of the movement.

舞踊の記譜法。ラバンによって考案された。1928年にラバンは《記された舞踊Schrifttanz》を著して，それ以前にあったものとは二つの点で異なる記譜法を発表した。つまり，縦の譜表を用い，中央の線から右には身体の右側の，左には左側の動きを記譜することと，記号の長さが運動の時間を表すことである。さらに身体を左右に分けるのみではなく，譜表の各行が身体の部分を示し，塗分けにより運動の起こる高さを，記号の形象により運動の方向を示す。
