Popo [Lake] - Popo
An inland saline lake located at an altitude of 3,660m on the Andean Altiplano in western Bolivia, South America. Its area is about 1,500 km2 (varies greatly depending on the climate). It is 3 to 5m deep. A river flows into it from Lake Titicaca, about 300 km to the northwest, but in recent years, no water has been discharged from the lake. To the southwest lies the Uyuni Salt Flats, where salts of such purity that they can be eaten as is are deposited.
