Year of death: November 20, 1416 (December 9, 1416) Year of birth: Kan'o 2/Shohei 6 (1351) The first son of Emperor Suko of the Northern Court. The first Fushiminomiya. His mother was Sukeko, the daughter of Gon Dainagon Niwada Shigesuke. There is also a theory that his name can be read as "Nakahito." He was proclaimed prince in 1368, and had his coming-of-age ceremony at Fushimi Palace in 1375. As he was the legitimate heir to the Jimyoin Imperial line, his father the Emperor wanted him to succeed Emperor Go-Kogon, but the aftermath of the Kan'o Disturbance (1350-1352) prevented this from happening. On the other hand, after the death of Suko in 1398, his estate was confiscated by Emperor Go-Komatsu, so he became a nun in Fushimi on May 26 of the same year and took the posthumous Buddhist name Michichi. In October of the same year, part of his estate was returned to him, but in his despair he travelled from place to place, and in his later years he lived in the Fushimi Imperial Palace, where he tried to preserve the secret biwa tunes that had been passed down to him by his father. He died in Fushimi, and was given the posthumous title of Daizuin.
