Inao (English spelling)

Japanese: イナオ(英語表記)Inao
Inao (English spelling)
Thai dramatic poetry. It is said that the first work was a royal tale from ancient Java (called Panji in Java), which was introduced to Thailand via Malay in the late 18th century and rewritten into two Thai poems by two princesses of King Boromakot of the Ayutthaya Dynasty. The work by the elder sister is usually called "Inao Yai" (or "Darang") and the work by the younger sister is called "Inao Lek", and the latter is more popular. Later, Rama II of the Bangkok Dynasty adapted it into a play, and it is still often performed today as a representative work of Lakhon Nai (royal court dance drama). It tells the story of a romantic love between Prince Inao and Princess Bussaba, who are relatives.
