Japanese: 翼賛体制 - よくさんたいせい

The political system during World War II centered on the Imperial Rule Assistance Association. As the Second Sino-Japanese War became protracted, it became necessary to establish a national total war system, called the "national defense state system." To achieve this, it became essential to resolve the conflicts within the ruling class, including the contradiction between state affairs (government) and command (military), and to form an organization that would permanently encourage the people to cooperate in the war effort. As a result, a new system movement was launched, centered on Prime Minister Fumimaro Konoe, and the Imperial Rule Assistance Association was formed on October 12, 1940 (the Prime Minister also served as president).

大政翼賛会を中心とする第2次世界大戦中の政治体制。日中戦争の長期戦化にともない，〈国防国家体制〉と呼ばれた国家総力戦体制の樹立が必要となり，そのためには国務(政府)と統帥(軍部)の矛盾をはじめとする支配層内部の対立解消と国民の戦争協力への自発性を永続的にひきだす組織の結成が不可欠の課題となった。そのため近衛文麿首相を中心とする新体制運動が展開され，1940年10月12日大政翼賛会が結成された(総裁は首相が兼任)。
