Agricultural processing - Nousankako

Japanese: 農産加工 - のうさんかこう

The processing and manufacturing of food (agricultural products) other than livestock products, marine products, and fermented foods using microorganisms. In other words, agricultural processing includes grain processing such as polishing brown rice (called rice polishing) and producing flour (called flour milling), as well as noodle production, sugar production, starch and starch sugar production, oil refining, oil and fat processing, tea production, soybean processed foods such as tofu, and horticultural processed products such as canned fruits and vegetables and fruit juice. In addition to food production, agricultural processing can also include the production of feed from agricultural products and the production of food and feed ingredients from agricultural waste.

畜産物，水産物および微生物を利用する発酵食品以外の食品(農産物)を加工，製造すること。すなわち，玄米の搗精（とうせい）(精米という)，小麦粉の製造(製粉という)などの穀類の加工をはじめとして，製めん，製糖，デンプンとデンプン糖の製造，製油，油脂の加工，製茶，豆腐をはじめとする大豆加工食品，果実や野菜の缶詰や果汁をはじめとする園芸加工品などが農産加工に含まれる。さらに食糧生産だけでなく，農産物からの飼料生産や，農産廃棄物からの食･飼料の素材の生産まで含めて農産加工という場合もある。
