[Live] Guangxu 19 (1893). Shaanxi, Pacheng Died September 17, 1949. A Chinese soldier in Chongqing. He graduated from the Shaanxi Military Academy and participated in the Xinhai Revolution. In 1917, he became the commander of the 5th Route of the Yasukuni Army. He served under Feng Yuxiang for many years afterwards. He supported Feng Yuxiang during the Northern Expedition, and in 1929, when Feng Yuxiang and others launched the Anti-Chiang War, he declared his submission to the Kuomintang Central Committee. He served as the Chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Government from 1931 to 1932. When Zhang Xueliang was transferred to Xi'an in 1935, he supported Zhang's call for an end to the civil war and unity in the resistance against Japan, and in December 1936, together with Zhang, he started the Xi'an Incident, imprisoned Chiang Kai-shek, and jointly sent out a nationwide telegram calling for an end to the civil war, the release of patriotic leaders, and the reorganization of the Nanjing Nationalist Government, among other eight points. After the Xi'an Incident, he left China, but immediately after the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War, he returned to China to fight against Japan, was arrested and imprisoned, and was executed in a prison in Chongqing in September 1949.
