A literary school in China during the Qing Dynasty. A branch of the Tongcheng school, the largest school of classical Chinese during the Qing Dynasty. It was advocated by Yunjing and Lu Jiraku of Yanghu, Jiangsu Province, who studied classical Chinese under Liu Dayai, and Zhang Huiyan, also of Yanghu, who studied textual research. This school did not necessarily agree with the Tongcheng school's theory of righteousness and law, and moved away from adhering to Song learning to incorporate the Hundred Schools of Thought and the two teachings of Taoism and Buddhism. Its writing style also differs somewhat from that of the Tongcheng school, which stands on the orthodox side of the Tang-Song school, and attempts to combine the use of benbun.
