A mammal of the Felidae family in the carnivora order. Males grow 2.7-3.1m in total length, females 2.4-2.8m, shoulder height 90cm, and tail about 90cm. The back is yellowish brown with black horizontal stripes. It is found in Ussuri, northeastern China, Indonesia, India, and Nepal. It lives alone in forests and thickets and is nocturnal. It attacks deer, wild boars, etc. It often goes into water and is a good swimmer. It has 2-4 young in one litter. Older animals may become man-eaters. Its lifespan is about 15 years.
