The atmospheric pressure decreases the higher you go, so when flying in an aircraft, if you go above 3000m, your ability to fly will decrease due to lack of oxygen. Humans are also sensitive to sudden changes in air pressure. Therefore, most modern aircraft, except for simple light aircraft and helicopters, are designed to raise the air pressure inside the aircraft to a level higher than the atmospheric pressure outside while flying at high altitudes, to maintain the same pressure as at a low altitude. This is called pressurization, and the part that is pressurized is called a pressurized cabin. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
