…　歴史的にみて，ミケーリP.A.Micheliの《新しい植物の属Nova Plantarum Genera》(1729)にはすでに大型の菌類はのっているが植物として取り扱われ，リンネの《植物種誌Species Plantarum》(1753)では藻類といっしょに隠花植物Cryptogamiaとしてまとめられ，この呼び方はその後長い間つかわれてきた。菌類の分類研究が独立して行われたのは1800年代からで，ペルズーンC.H.Persoon(1761‐1836)，フリースE.M.Fries(1794‐1878)らが創始者といえよう。19世紀後半に入ると，細胞学，遺伝学，生理学の分野で研究材料として扱われ，とくに植物病理学，応用微生物学，皮膚科学の分野で研究成果が次々と得られ，発展してきた。…
