A reaction in which metallic sodium is reacted with an alkyl halide to obtain a dimerization product. It was discovered by CA Wurtz in 1855. The Wurtz reaction itself is a synthetic reaction for symmetrical hydrocarbons, but Rudolf Fittig (1835-1910) applied this reaction in 1864 to the coupling reaction of aromatic halides (aryl halides, ArX in the following formula) with alkyl halides. This is known as the Wurtz-Fittig reaction (or simply the Fittig reaction). Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
1855年C.A.
