This hot spring is located in Hakodate City, Hokkaido. It was once divided into Yukawa, Nezaki, and other hot springs, but is now collectively called Yunokawa Onsen. It is a pure salt spring at 66°C. It was already known as a therapeutic hot spring in the 18th century, and as Hakodate developed into a fishing base for the North Pacific in the Meiji period, it came to be used as a retreat, and a hot spring town developed at the mouth of the Matsukura River, which flows into the Tsugaru Strait. It is located about 5 km from the center of Hakodate and about 2 km from the airport, and is well-connected by public transport, making it a popular recreational spot for Hakodate residents. In summer, it is crowded with beachgoers, and from summer to autumn, it is known for the beauty of the fishing lights used by squid fishermen.
