A Kyoto bookseller in the early Edo period, and author of ukiyo-zoshi. Dates of birth and death unknown. His given name was Hiroyuki. His shop name was Izumiya. His pen name was Yamanoyatsu. He wrote Koibumi Suikyou (Mirror of Love in Water) (1682) and Elegant Saga Momiji (Fragrant Saga Maple Leaves) (1683), and his published works include the anonymous Shokoku Kono Koro Koshoku Kakucho (C. 1684-87) and Unpuushi Rinko's Amorous Feathers (C. 1692-96). As a bookseller, he was sensitive to the trends of the times, and although his works retained the feel of kana-zoshi, he was considerate of current events, and in later years, when erotic books were in vogue, he published books that resembled pornographic books.
