Mitsuyo Uramatsu

A court nobleman from the mid-Edo period. His date of death is said to be the 26th. He was the son of Karasuma Mitsuyoshi, and later adopted by Uramatsu Masumitsu. He served Emperor Momozono, and in 1747 he was promoted to Junior Fifth Rank, and in 1758 he became a treasurer. From an early age he loved learning, and was particularly knowledgeable about court nobles. He resented the decline of the royal family, and together with Takeuchi Shikibu and Fujii Uemon, he advocated the restoration of the Imperial Court, which made him the object of the Shogunate's scorn, and in July of the same year he was ordered to live in seclusion. During his confinement, he devoted himself to studying the Heian Imperial Palace. When the Imperial Palace burned down in 1788, he was asked about its reconstruction, and was released from seclusion after presenting the results of his many years of research, "Daidairi Zukosho." When the Imperial Palace was completed in 1790, Mitsuyo presented his book to the Emperor. 江戸中期の有職故実家。没日は一説に26日。烏丸光栄の子,のち裏松益光の養子となる。桃園天皇に仕え,延享4(1747)年従五位下,宝暦8(1758)年蔵人となる。幼時より学を好み,特に有職故実に詳しかった。王室の衰微を憤り,竹内式部,藤井右門らと尊王復古を唱えたため幕府の忌むところとなり,同8年7月蟄居を命じられた。謹慎中,平安内裏の研究に没頭。天明8(1788)年内裏炎上の際再建の諮問を受け,長年の研究成果『大内裏図考証』を示したことによって蟄居が解かれた。寛政2(1790)年の内裏竣工の際,光世は天皇に著書を献上した。10年,出家して固禅と号した。<参考文献>西井芳子「裏松固禅とその業績」(『平安博物館研究紀要』2号)
