Bush dog - bush dog
A mammal of the carnivora family, Canidae (illustration). A wild dog resembling a badger. Also known as the bush dog. It is found from Panama in Central America to eastern Peru, Guyana, and Paraguay in South America. Its body length is 57-75 cm, tail length 12-15 cm, shoulder height about 30 cm, and weight is around 6 kg. Its body is long and its limbs and tail are short. It has only 38 teeth, an exceptionally low number for a canine. Its hair is long and coarse, brown, and its head, neck, and front half are orange, yellowish brown, or white, while its ventral surface, back half, limbs, and tail are almost entirely black.

食肉目イヌ科の哺乳類(イラスト)。アナグマに似た野生イヌ。ブッシュドッグともいう。中央アメリカのパナマから南アメリカのペルー東部,ガイアナ,パラグアイまでに分布する。体長57~75cm,尾長12~15cm,肩高約30cm,体重6kg前後。体は胴が長く四肢と尾は短い。歯は38本しかなく,イヌ科としては例外的に少ない。体毛は長く粗く,褐色で,頭,首,前半身が橙色,黄褐色,白色などであり,腹面,後半身,四肢,尾はほとんど黒色。
